NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women's lacrosse team fell to No. 24 nationally ranked Temple on Friday afternoon by a 18-8 score at L.R. Hill Sports Complex. ODU's Lilly Siskind, Danielle Dundas and Emily Goline each scored two goals for the Monarchs.
The Owls jumped out to an early 4-0 lead, before Goline's second goal of the season cut the Monarchs deficit to three, 4-1, with 14:01 to play in the opening frame.
ODU's Haley O'Connor finished a pass from teammate Claire Porter, making it a 6-2 match in favor of Temple (5-3, 1-2 AAC) with 9:10 to play in the first half. The goal was O'Connor's 11th of the season.
With 31 seconds to play in the opening half, after a won draw control by Madison Corcoran, Dundas' ninth goal of the season, cut the Monarchs deficit to eight, 11-3, heading to the locker rooms at halftime.
Old Dominion's Sabrina Leatherwood made five saves in the first half, while teammate Brianna Blatter was credited with three.
The Monarchs registered the first goal in the second half, when Lindsay Baer made it an 11-4 game after scoring her 11th goal of the season with 28:18 to play.
Less than three minutes later (25:41), Dundas made it three consecutive goals for the Monarchs off an assist from Baer, narrowing ODU's deficit to six, 11-5.
Goline scored her second goal of the contest for Old Dominion with 18:20 remaining in regulation to bring the score to 13-6 in favor of the Owls.
Lilly Siskind made it a 13-7 match with 13:43 left to play and then struck again with 20 seconds remaining in the game, bringing the final score to 18-8, as Temple ended the match on a 5-1 scoring run.
Jenna Peccia made six saves in the second half for Old Dominion (3-7, 1-2 AAC). Goline led the way for the Monarchs with three ground balls, while Katie McGrain recorded two. Corcoran finished with a team high four draw controls, as Goline and Dundas followed with three each.
Dundas attempted a team high six shots, as five were on frame. All five of Siskind's shots were on goal on a day that she netted two goals, bringing her season total to 21, which leads the squad.
