Baseball Hosts Ball State for Weekend Series

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion (9-3) baseball team is set to host Ball State for a weekend series from March 12-14 at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. All three contests will stream on CUSA.tv.
 
To accommodate Monarch fans as a result of the difficult circumstances related to the pandemic, the ODU Athletics department is pleased to offer free admission to all ODU baseball games for the 2021 season. The Bud Metheny Baseball Complex will now welcome 750 fans on a first come, first served basis.
 
ODU is coming off a midweek victory over William & Mary, which kept ODU perfect (2-0) in road and midweek games. Andy Garriola, Lincoln Ransom, and Kyle Battle each hit home runs on Wednesday evening. Garriola leads the league in RBIs (22) and hits (18). The junior from Sierra Madre, California has the second-most RBIs in the nation. 
 
Head coach Chris Finwood is quickly approaching his 500th career win. Heading into the Monarchs series against the Cardinals, Finwood has compiled 494 head coaching wins. The Monarchs currently rank top-10 in the nation for most hits (132), doubles (33), home runs (25) and runs (107). 
 
About Ball State
The Cardinals have the No. 1 RPI in the NCAA. They are coming off a series win over Kentucky and have a 4-3 road mark. Ball State's starting rotation is a combined 4-0 on the bump, compiling 56 strikeouts in over 42 innings of work.
 
The Cardinals were also ranked 30th in the most recent College Baseball News poll.

The gate on 43rd street will open 60 minutes prior to first-pitch.
 
Fans in attendance must comply with the following guidelines:
Mask required for entry into stadium. No gaiters
Maintain social distancing while in the facility
No large gatherings inside the facility
Please sit in the stands in the designated locations
Wash hands frequently
Parking in Elkhorn Garage and Lot 43

The "Monarch Cutouts", presented by Chartway, are available for $59 and will be in attendance at all home games for the 2021 season. Photos of the fan cutouts will be posted on social media throughout the season.
