ATLANTA, Ga. – Sophomore Tara Enneking became the second Old Dominion University women's swimmer to win an event at the Conference USA Championship by winning the 200 IM Thursday night on day one of the C-USA Championships.
A native of Forest, Virginia, Enneking edged out Rice's Nicole Limberg by .02 seconds to win with a time of 2:02.41. Enneking joins Ashley Brem as the only other ODU swimmer to win a swimming event at the C-USA Championships. Brem won the 100 breaststroke in 2018.

"We had a good first day of events with a gold medal from Tara Enneking and multiple season and personal best times from our full team," head coach Jess Livsey said. "We look forward to gaining momentum with tomorrow's events, and are excited for many more successes throughout the remainder of the meet."
Also in the 200 IM for the Monarchs, Summer Sampson placed 15th with a time of 2:07.24.
In the opening event of the finals, ODU placed sixth in the 200 freestyle relay with a time of 1:36.42. Myranda Byrne, Stephanie Nardone, Enneking and Peri Farling were the team for the Monarchs.
In the 500 freestyle, Miranda Byrne placed 20th overall with a time of 5:05.74, while Brynn Jewell finished 24thwith a time of 5:10.67
In the final event of the night, the Monarchs placed sixth in the 400 medley relay with a time of 3:51.71. Sampson, Enneking, Nardone and Byrne swam for the Monarchs.
Day two of the C-USA Championships begins tomorrow with the prelims at 10 a.m., and continues with the finals at 6 p.m.
