LYNCHBURG, Va. – Noah Wilkins finished in second place in the 50 freestyle to lead the Old Dominion University men's swimming team on the first night of the Coastal Collegiate Sports Association (CCSA) Championships on Friday night.
"I am proud of our Monarchs tonight as we kicked off our first meet this season," ODU Head Coach Jess Livsey said. "We had some great swims tonight and are looking forward to two more exciting days of racing."
Wilkins finished in second with a time of 20.33, just .02 behind the winner of the 50 freestyle, Brady Fields of Gardner-Webb. Parker Harp placed sixth for the Monarchs with a time of 20.73.
ODU led off the night by finishing second in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:29.44. Wilkins led off the race, followed by Peter Durisin, Oskar Iwarsson and Harp.
Hugo Eriksson notched a fifth place spot in the 200 IM with a time of 1:51.68.
The championships continue tomorrow with the prelims beginning at 10 a.m. and the finals at 6 p.m.
