CLEMSON, S.C. – In the season opener, the Old Dominion men's tennis team (0-1) fell to Auburn (2-0) by a 7-0 score on Saturday morning at the Duckworth Family Tennis Facility on the campus of Clemson.
"We had plenty of chances," said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. "At the end, I think you saw two even teams, where one had a full fall with tournaments and one that started in January. Auburn did an amazing job winning the close points and sets. We don't use that as an excuse but a motivation to build on that tomorrow. Honestly, the level was very encouraging for the first match, we just saw the lack of match toughness."
The Tennis Monarchs will be right back in action tomorrow, Sunday, Jan. 24 at 2:00 p.m. EST, when ODU takes on Clemson.
