IRVING, Texas - 14 student-athletes on the Old Dominion women's rowing team were named to the 2019-20 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, as announced by the league Thursday morning.
Rasheeda Anderson, Alexa Carlisle, Talya Cohen, Madeline Doherty, Margaret Fluharty, Starleigh Jones, Ave McFadden, Autumn Murley, Madalyn Rascoe and Amanda Ruck are each earning the honor for the second-straight year. Valeriia Demateva, Emma Dobson, Kaylee Logan and Praisya Smith are the remaining four honorees from ODU's women's rowing squad.
The 2019-2020 season was the second season the Monarchs were in the American Athletic Conference.
To be eligible for the honor, a nominee must have competed in an American Athletic Conference-sponsored sport, attained a minimum grade-point average of 3.00 for the preceding academic year, and completed a minimum of two consecutive semesters or three consecutive quarters of academic work, with a total of 18 semester or 27 quarter credits, not including remedial courses.
The nominations are reviewed and approved by the American Athletic Conference Academic Affairs Committee. A total of 3,299 student-athletes earned spots on the All-Academic team, breaking the previous conference record of 2,836 selections from last season.
