PRINCETON, N.J. – The Old Dominion men's tennis team (10-2) had its seven-match win-streak snapped at No. 24 nationally ranked Princeton (10-4) by a 4-3 score in the Jadwin Gymnasium on Saturday afternoon. ODU's Luca Maldoner/Nicola Vidal picked up a doubles victory over the No. 6 nationally ranked duo.
"I couldn't be more proud of our guys," said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. "Before this road trip, we talked about being the same team on the road that we are at home and we accomplished that. We pushed a Top 25 team to the limit on their home courts and forced them to play well in big moments. And they did, so there is zero regret from me as a coach. We are continuing to improve, especially in doubles. Beating the number six team in the country is a nice result."
Prior to Saturday's setback, the Monarchs last loss came on Jan. 25 at the ITA National Kick-Off against Georgia State in Chapel Hill, N.C.
Old Dominion will return to action on Saturday, March 7, when the Monarchs take on New Mexico in Eugene, Ore. Then on Sunday, March 8, ODU will square-off against Oregon.
