NORFOLK, Va. -The Old Dominion men's tennis team improved to 4-1 on the season after taking down Elon (0-4) by a 4-2 score on Sunday as part of the 12th Annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
"This was a great bounce back win after yesterday," said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. "Elon won the CAA last year and has postseason experience. We had to overcome a lot of adversity today and I'm proud of how we faced them. Losing the doubles point again after losing yesterday, I thought we came out ready and singles and took control of the match. And out of nowhere we have to retire on a court we are up 6:2 4:2 and find ourselves with our backs against the wall. Amazing job keeping our composure in that situation and battling out that win."
Old Dominion will be back in action on Friday, Feb. 7, when the Tennis Monarchs host SMU for a 1:00 p.m. start at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
