CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The Old Dominion men's tennis team (3-1) suffered its first loss of the season against Georgia State (1-0) by a 4-2 score as part of the 12th Annual Intercollegiate Tennis Association Kickoff Weekend at the Cone-Kenfield Tennis Center in Chapel Hill, N.C.
"All the credit goes to Georgia State," said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. "They came fast out of the gate in doubles and out-competed us in that point. We did a great job fighting in singles and giving ourselves a chance by saving four dual match points. But at the end, we didn't handle adversity well in the deciding moments and didn't play our game. That's on us coaches to fix."
The Tennis Monarchs will be right back in action on Sunday, Jan. 26, when ODU takes on the loser of No. 4 nationally ranked North Carolina vs. Elon. Sunday's match will begin at 10:00 a.m. ET.
