Three Second Half Goals Lift ODU Over UTSA, 3-0

NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s soccer team (9-3-4, 3-3-2 C-USA) scored three second half goals to take down UTSA (7-7-1, 3-5-0 CUSA) by a 3-0 score on Thursday night at the ODU Soccer Complex. With the victory, the Monarchs extended their unbeaten streak to five. Old Dominion outshot the Roadrunners 24-4 for the match.

Allie Brimmer broke the 0-0 deadlock in the 53rd minute off an assist from Ece Turkoglu to give the Monarchs a 1-0 lead. The goal was Brimmer’s third of the season.

Less than seven minutes later in the 60th minute, Kyra Ricks drilled a shot into the back of the Roadrunners net off a pass from Amanda Nhek, doubling ODU’s lead to 2-0. The goal was Ricks’ 6th of the season.

Megan Watts sealed the deal in the 77th minute with her fourth goal of the season, ultimately lifting Old Dominion to a 3-0 win on Thursday night in Norfolk.

UTSA’s goalkeeper, Sophie Milich was credited with six saves for the Roadrunners.

Old Dominion will return to the pitch on Sunday, Oct. 27, when the Monarchs welcome UTEP to the ODU Soccer Complex for a 12:00 p.m. start. Sunday will mark Senior Day for ODU’s Gaby Bentley, Erin Davidson, Kyra Ricks and Talia Tapper. Fans are asked to arrive to Sunday’s match at 11:30 a.m. for the Senior Day Ceremony. Sunday’s match will stream on C-USA TV.
