ODU Dominates Butler on Senior Day, 18-6

NORFOLK, Va. – In the regular season finale, the Old Dominion lacrosse team (4-13, 1-4) dominated Butler (3-14, 0-5) by an 18-6 score on Saturday afternoon at the L.R. Hill Sports Complex. Saturday marked Senior Day for eight Monarchs: Hannah Breslin, Lyndsey Duty, Lauren Ey, Lauren Irvine, Katie Miller, Sophia Richie, Alyssa Sebesto and Haleigh Wurzel, who were honored beforehand by Director of Athletics, Dr. Wood Selig.

Old Dominion wasted no time taking a lead on Saturday, as the Monarchs jumped out to a commanding 13-4 lead after the opening 30 minutes. In the second segment, ODU extended its lead, allowing for the clock to run for most of the second half, where the Monarchs would ultimately outscore the Bulldogs 5-2 in the closing 30 minutes in route to a 12-goal victory on Saturday afternoon in Norfolk.

Nine different ODU players score on Saturday, while four of those players scored multiple goals.

Leading the way for Old Dominion were Sophia Richie and Glory Johnson (two assists), who each scored four goals. MK Maloney followed with three goals and two assists. Sophie Powers finished with two goals and one assist.

Alyssa Sebesto, Lauren Irvine, Claire Porter, Madi Johnson and Brooke Stein (one assist) each scored one goal for the Monarchs.

Lilly Siskind dished out two assists, while Danielle Dundas had one, respectively.

ODU’s Haleigh Wurzel made 12 saves in goal for the match, compiling six in each half.

For the game, Old Dominion held a 33-21 advantage in the shot department.
