CHARLOTTE, N.C. -- Old Dominion remains on the road for a Conference USA series at Charlotte this weekend at Hayes Stadium. First pitch is set for 6 p.m. ET on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday.
Old Dominion (11-24, 4-11 C-USA) is coming off of a 6-5 extra-inning loss at Virginia Tech on Wednesday. The Monarchs have yet to win a weekend series this season and currently sit three games out of eighth place in the league standings. The top eight teams qualify for the C-USA Tournament in Biloxi.
ODU and Charlotte (19-17, 7-8 C-USA) are two of the top hitting teams in the conference. The Monarchs rank fourth in the league with a .281 team average, while the 49ers are second at .291. Culver Lamb (.319, 4 HR, 18 RBI) is one of five ODU players hitting .300 or better, while Will Morgan (.230, 5 HR, 22 RBI) leads the team in home runs.
On the mound, freshman lefty Luke Krantz (0-0, 7.82 ERA) is expected to make his first career weekend start on Friday and Morgan Maguire (3-3, 3.03 ERA), who threw a complete-game shutout his last time out against UAB, will start on Saturday. Sunday's starter is TBA.
The Monarchs leads the all-time series, 43-32, and have never lost a series to Charlotte as C-USA opponents.
