NORFOLK, Va. -- In what has become an annual showdown between the pair of east coast schools, Old Dominion hosts Rutgers this weekend at the Bud Metheny Complex in non-conference action.
First pitch is set for 3 p.m. on Friday, 2 p.m. on Saturday and 1 p.m. on Sunday. All three games will be streamed on CUSA.tv.
The three-game set marks the the 23rd consecutive season that Old Dominion (3-5) has welcomed Rutgers (3-4) to The Bud for an early-season non-conference series. The teams have met every year since 1997.
The series also marks the second consecutive weekend that ODU has hosted a Power-5 opponent at The Bud. Last weekend, the Monarchs dropped 2-of-3 to Kansas State of the Big 12. Rutgers will be the third of five Power-5 opponents for the Monarchs this season (Iowa, Kansas State, Rutgers, Virginia, Virginia Tech).
ODU is coming off of a loss at 18th-ranked East Carolina in midweek action on Wednesday. ODU is hitting .288 as a club and has been led by Culver Lamb, who is hitting a team-leading .412 with five extra-base hits, and Will Morgan, who leads the team with three home runs and seven RBIs.
Rutgers leads the all-time series, 35-25. However, the Monarchs have taken 2-of-3 against the Scarlet Knights in each of the last four seasons.
