The Big East Field Hockey Championship [BigEast.com Tournament Central] presented by Jeep will be played on the campus of Providence College at the Friars’ Lennon Family Field on Nov. 3 and 5. Providence serving as host of the conference’s postseason tournament for the third time. The tournament champion receives the league’s automatic berth into the 16-team NCAA Division I Field Hockey Championship. All three of the matches in Providence will be streamed live on BEDN, the BIG EAST’s digital platform available on FOX Sports Go, the FOX Sports mobile application.

Semifinal Preview -- #3 Old Dominion (8-9, 5-2 Big East) vs. #2 Liberty (7-10, 5-2 Big East)
NORFOLK, Va. -- The Old Dominion field hockey team takes on No. 2 seed Liberty in the semifinals of the Big East Tournament on Friday at 4 p.m. in Providence, Rhode Island.

Old Dominion (8-9, 5-2 Big East), the No. 3 seed, fell to the Flames (7-10, 5-2 Big East), 3-1, earlier this season in Lynchburg. Overall, the all-time series is tied, 2-2.

The Monarchs enter the tournament having won four consecutive Big East games, including a pair of shutouts. In seven conference games this season, ODU is averaging 2.71 goals per game. 

In Big East play, Danielle Grega and Erin Huffman, who were both named to the All-Big East First Team on Thursday, lead the team in scoring with five and four goals, respectively. Overall, Huffman leads the team in scoring for the season with 11 goals and one assist, while Grega ranks second with seven goals and five assists.

In addition to Grega and Huffman, senior midfielder Julia Van Dorsten also earned All-Big East honors, landing on the second team. Van Dorsten ranks second on the team with eight assists. Freshman back Cameran Nery-Strickland leads the squad with 10 assists.

Defensively, the backline of Kristen VickRebecca Birch and Nery-Strickland have started the last 12 games together, while freshman goalkeeper Lacey Frazier has started the last six games in goal and leads the team with a 2.30 goals against average.

ODU, who failed to qualify for the Big East Tournament last season, last appaered in a Big East Tourney in 2016, when ODU dropped a tough match to eventual champion UConn, 4-3, in Norfolk.

With a win, ODU would advance to play the winner of No. 1 seed UConn and No. 4 seed Providence in the championship on Sunday.
