NORFOLK, Va. --
The Old Dominion field hockey team travels to Providence on Friday and then hosts No. 4 Virginia on Sunday to close out the regular season this weekend.

Old Dominion (7-8, 4-2 Big East) takes on the Friars at 2 p.m. on Friday at Lennon Family Field, the site of this year's Big East Tournament. ODU can punch its ticket to the conference tourney with a victory over Providence.

The Monarchs then return to Norfolk to host No. 4 Virginia on Sunday at 1 p.m. for Senior Day. Danielle Grega, Carrie Sensenig and Julia Van Dorsten will all be honored in a pregame ceremony.

Following last weekend's 3-2 overtime victory at Villanova, the Monarchs have now won three consecutive conference games. ODU's only losses in Big East play this season have come to No. 1 UConn and Liberty.

As a team, the Monarchs are averaging 2.4 goals per game and have scored two or more goals in 10 of the 15 games this season.

Individually, Erin Huffman (10g, 1a) leads the team in scoring with 21 points, while Danielle Grega (5g, 5a) ranks second with 15. Alexa Ostoich (6g, 2a), Julia Van Dorsten (2g, 8a) and Cameran Nery-Strickland (10a) have also posted double-digit point totals.

Defensively, Kristen Vick and Rebecca Birch have started every game at back and are coming off of a strong performance at Villanova, where they held the Wildcats to just two shots combined in the second half and overtime periods. In goal, Lacey Frazier has started the last five games and owns a 2.21 goals against average.

ODU leads the all-time series, 5-1, against Providence. However, the Friars topped the Monarchs, 1-0, in overtime last year. Against UVA, ODU is 35-16 all-time.

ABOUT PROVIDENCE
Providence (10-6, 4-2 Big East) fell to Liberty, 3-0, last weekend to drop to 4-2 in conference play, putting the Friars in a tie with ODU in the conference standings. The Friars are scoring 1.94 goals per game, while holding opponents to 1.88 goals. Four different players have recorded double-digit point totals this season, including Man Van Weezel, who has a team-high 13.

ABOUT #4 VIRGINIA
Virginia (14-3, 5-1 ACC) enters the weekend having won four of its last five, with the one loss being a 5-4 defeat to now-No. 9 Maryland. The Cavaliers are averaging 4.8 goals per game and played in Norfolk earlier this season, defeating Michigan State, 6-1, in a neutral-site game. Tara Vittese, the 2016 National Player of the Year, ranks second nationally in goals with 23.
