LYNCHBURG, Va. – Aziz Kijametovic (Zivinice, Bosnia & Herzegovina) and Francois Musitelli (Dijon, France) of the Old Dominion men’s tennis team claimed the 2017 ITA Atlantic Regional Doubles Championship held at the Cook Tennis Center and Hershey-Esbenshade Tennis Courts hosted by Liberty University.
Kijametovic and Musitelli punched their ticket to the 2017 Oracle ITA National Fall Championships after going a perfect 5-0 in the Regional Tournament, taking down tandems from Duquesne (8-5), George Washington (8-6), Virginia Tech (8-5), Penn State (7-6(9), 6-4) and Virginia (6-3, 6-4).
“As a coaching staff we are very pleased with how we competed this whole weekend,” explained ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “We won a lot of matches and got better as a team I think. Our doubles play was strong from all three teams and winning the title obviously highlighted the weekend. Aziz and Francois deserve to go to Indian Wells for the Fall National Championships.”
The Oracle ITA National Fall Championships will be held at the Indian Wells Tennis Garden in Indian Wells, Cali. on Nov. 1-5.

Kijametovic Makes Semifinal Run in Singles
Kijametovic claimed victory in his first four singles matches, taking down opponents from Radford (7-5, 7-5), Penn State (6-2, 2-6, 6-1), Virginia Tech (6-4, 6-2) and Old Dominion’s very own Adam Moundir (6-4, 6-2), who entered the tournament nationally ranked No. 35. It was Alexandre Ribeiro of Virginia Tech who defeated Kijametovic (2-6, 6-4, 5-7) in the semifinals.
