NORFOLK, Va. – Jacob Nicolussi of the Old Dominion men’s tennis team won the Navy Singles draw of the 2017 Monarch Invitational on Sunday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center.
“What a great first Monarch Invitational,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “We had fantastic weather, saw high quality tennis, and topped it off with keeping the title at home. I am very happy how we competed throughout the weekend and how we found ways to win matches when we didn’t play our best tennis.”
Nicolussi defeated Matthew Fernandez of Richmond (6-3, 6-3), Christian Cargill of William & Mary (7-5, 3-6, 6-3) and then Robert Levine of Duke (3-6, 6-2, 7-5) to claim the title.
Final draws are attached.
