MILWAUKEE, Wisc. – Jacob Nicolussi and Michael Weindl of the Old Dominion men’s tennis team won the doubles tournament at the 2017 Milwaukee Tennis Classic after going a perfect 4-0.
“Overall, this was a very exciting and successful trip to start the semester,” said ODU head coach Dominik Mueller. “Three of our guys went 2-1 against great competition. The doubles title is obviously the icing on the cake.”
In singles play, Weindl, Javier Jover Maestre and Aziz Kijametovic each went 2-1 for their three matches.
Nicolussi and Weindl took down tandems from Minnesota (8-5), Nebraska (8-1), Arkansas (w/o) and Iowa (8-6) on their way to the doubles championship.
The Tennis Monarchs will be back in action this weekend in Norfolk, Va., where Old Dominion will host the Monarch Invitational from Friday, Sept. 29 to Sunday, Oct. 1.
