BOCA RATON, Fla. -- For only the second time in 2017, No. 25 Old Dominion lost a weekend series.

ODU (36-19, 19-11 C-USA) concluded the regular season with a 3-0 loss at Florida Atlantic on Saturday afternoon at the FAU Baseball Stadium, giving the Owls the 2-1 series win.

With the loss, the Monarchs end the regular season with a 12-2 record in weekend series and a 4-1 mark in road series.

Florida Atlantic (33-19-1, 18-12 C-USA) scored a run in the first, fourth and seventh innings and that would be all of the offense the Owls would need, as Jake Miednik threw eight shutout innings and closer Cameron Ragsdale closed it out with a scoreless ninth for the FAU win.

Jared Young, who hit .538 for the series (7-for-13), accounted for half of the Monarch hits for the afternoon, going 3-for-4. Bryce Windham, Culver Lamb and Will Morgan also collected hits.

On the mound, starting pitcher Michael Blanchard dropped to 1-2 on the season, allowing two runs in 3.1 innings of work. Morgan Maguire threw 1.2 innings of no-hit, shutout relief, while Lamb also tossed a scoreless inning.

Next up, the Monarchs head to Biloxi, Mississippi, for the 2017 The First, A National Banking Association, Conference USA Baseball Championship at MGM Park.

The Monarchs, the No. 2 seed, will play No. 7 seed FIU in the first round on Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. ET. ODU won 2-of-3 against the Panthers in Norfolk just two weekends ago.

More information on the C-USA Championship and the complete bracket will be posted on ODUSports.com later today.
