NORFOLK, Va. – Former Old Dominion University quarterback David Washington was named the Tom Scott Award Winner, the Norfolk Sports Club announced at their weekly luncheon on Monday. The Tom Scott Award is given to ODU's top senior student-athlete as voted on by the Norfolk Sports Club.

Washington helped lead the Monarchs to a 10-3 overall record and Popeyes Bahamas Bowl victory in 2016. Washington completed 202-of-340 passes for 2,836 yards and 31 touchdown passes, with only five interceptions. He also rushed for 207 yards and a touchdown.

A native of Raleigh, North Carolina, Washington tossed multiple touchdown passes in 11 games and threw at least one touchdown pass in 12 games. In the win at Florida Atlantic, he notched career-highs, completing 26-of-36 passes for 416 yards and five touchdown passes.

Washington also played wide receiver in his career at ODU, catching 55 passes for 666 yards and five touchdowns. As a sophomore in 2014, he had 47 receptions for 599 yards and four touchdowns.

Washington is the third Monarch football player to win the award, joining Taylor Heinicke (2015) and Ronnie Cameron (2012).
