NORFOLK, Va. – After splitting the weekend in South Carolina falling at Furman and defeating Coastal Carolina, the Lady Monarch lacrosse team travels to Michigan for another set of ASUN conference games. ODU competes against Central Michigan on Thursday, April 13 at 7 p.m., followed by a game at Detroit Mercy on Saturday, April 15 at 11 am.

Old Dominion (6-5, 2-2 ASUN)
The Lady Monarchs enter Thursday’s game after splitting the weekend down in South Carolina. ODU fell to Furman 8-7, but bounced back to narrowly defeat the Chanticleers of Coastal Carolina 13-12.

  • Connor Carson surpassed the 100-career goal mark when she scored her third-of-four goals at Furman on Friday, April 7.
  • Carson leads the Lady Monarchs with 27 goals, 30 points and 29 draw controls.
  • Morgan Marrale holds the lead in assists with 10, while Megan Topper has eight this season and needs just one to tie third in the ODU Record Book in career assists.
  • Maggi Buckley had a strong weekend on the road in South Carolina collecting 27 saves over two games. She has 111 on the season, 417 in her career and is now fifth in ODU’s career saves records.
  • Buckley leads the team in ground balls with 32, while Kerri Caruso is second with 25 and Natalie Ledwitz third with 23.
  • Ledwitz is second on the team in draw controls (23) and leads the team in caused turnovers with 20, while Caruso sits second in CT’s with 19.

Central Michigan (4-9, 1-5 ASUN)
CMU had a rough weekend in Florida competing at Jacksonville and Stetson, on April 7 and 9, as they lost both games.

  • The Chippewa’s last won on March 26, when they narrowly defeated Kennesaw State 17-16 to end the Owls five-game winning streak.
  • CMU enters the game on Thursday on a four-game winless streak. The Chippewa’s have allowed their last four opponents to outscore them 64-33.
  • Central Michigan is in its second year as a program and has a young roster of 14 sophomores, 13 freshmen and a single junior.
  • Jocelyne Lemay leads the Chippewa’s with 32 goals, while Shannon Doyle has the second most with 24.
  • Riley Huda has a team-high 42 points off her 15 goals and team-high 27 assists.
  • CMU has played three keepers this season with Dominique Hamman playing the most minutes in net. Hamman has allowed 94 goals while collecting 78 saves and has a 13.01 goals-against average.

Detroit Mercy (2-11, 0-6 ASUN)
The Titans of Detroit Mercy have lost the last seven competitions including all six ASUN conference games to date.

  • The team is suffering from the loss of their head coach Laura Maness, who took the head coaching position at Kennesaw State, another ASUN school.
  • Under her leadership the Titans reached the ASUN championship game four times but lost each time.
  • Morgan Girardi leads the Titans with 29 goals, while Lexie Kinmond has 26 and Kelsi Pritchard 25.
  • Kinmond holds the team-high in points with 45, from 26 goals and a team-high 19 assists.
  • Allison McDonough is the only person to play goalie for Detroit Mercy this season. She has tallied 780 minutes in net giving up 196 goals for a 15.08 GAA.

Series History
The Lady Monarchs are 1-0 against Central Michigan who is in their second year of the lacrosse program. ODU defeated the Chippewa’s 17-8 in the first meeting between the two squads at the L.R. Hill Complex last year in Norfolk.

ODU holds a 3-1 series advantage over Detroit. In the last encounter, Old Dominion knocked off the Titans in the ASUN Conference Tournament Championship game by winning 11-10 in overtime on a goal by Megan Cameron to advance to the NCAA tournament.

Looking Ahead
Old Dominion returns home for their two final home games of the season on April 21 and 23. Kennesaw State visits the L.R. Hill Sports Complex Friday, April 21 for a 4 p.m. ASUN game.

Fans are encouraged to arrive early as the first 100 fans receive an ODU Lacrosse tank top. The Kennesaw State game is also the ODU SAAC Championship Effort game and the six Game Day Professors will be recognized as well.

Mercer comes to Norfolk on Sunday, April 23, for a 1 p.m. conference matchup at the Hill. The six seniors will be honored prior to the start of the game.
