RICHMOND, Va. -- In its first road game of the season, Old Dominion rallied to defeat VCU, 5-4, in 10 innings on Tuesday afternoon at The Diamond in Richmond, Virginia.

After VCU (2-5) scored a pair of runs in the bottom of the eighth inning to take a 4-3 lead, Old Dominion (6-1) answered in the top of the ninth, as Culver Lamb drove in Jared Young with an RBI single to tie the game.

Freshman Corey Klak, who earned the victory on the mound, then retired the side in the bottom of the ninth to force extras and, in the top of the 10th, Kyle Battle scored on a Nick Walker line-drive single to left for what proved to be the winning run.

Vinnie Pasquantino led the Monarchs at the plate, going 3-for-5 with a double and two runs scored, while Bryce Windham and Turner Bishop also added mult-hit games.

On the mound, Jake Josephs pitched three key scoreless innings of relief for ODU after starter Joe Strzelecki, in his first start at Old Dominion, went four innings, allowing two runs on three hits, while striking out three. Klak earned the win, tossing two scoreless innings.

The victory is ODU's third consecutive win by one run after defeating Delaware, 2-1, and Saint Joseph's, 7-6, last weekend in the ODU Baseball Tournament. The Monarchs return to action this weekend, hosting Rutgers for a three-game series at The Bud.
