BLACKSBURG, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (6-2) travels to Blacksburg to square-off against No. 44 nationally ranked Virginia Tech (6-2) on Saturday, Feb. 12, at 4:00 p.m.

Old Dominion is coming off a busy weekend of three matches in four days, in which the Lady Monarchs won two, ending with a 4-3 victory over Penn 4-1 on Sunday morning.

Old Dominion has two players nationally ranked by the ITA, as No. 68 Holly Hutchinson and No. 112 Borislava Botusharova lead the Lady Tennis Monarchs. No. 68 Holly Hutchinson is 5-1 on the season and was recently named the Conference USA Player of the Week. No. 112 Borislava Botusharova is 6-1 on the season following the weekend’s matches, while senior Ingrid Vojcinakova is 5-2 on the season. The doubles pairing of Borislava Botusharova/Marijana Novakovic improved to 6-1, going 3-0 over the weekends matches.

Meet Virginia Tech:
Virginia Tech has started the season with a 6-2 record and is currently on a two-match winning streak. The Hokies kicked off the season with wins against Troy and East Tennessee State by a score of 5-2. Virginia Tech then fell to No. 7 Vanderbilt, 4-0. Next, the Hokies won two straight, defeating Clemson 4-2 and Purdue, 7-0. VT got suffered its second setback at the hands of Marshall, 5-2. Virginia Tech then downed Radford 7-0 and West Virginia 4-3, in its two most recent matches.

The Hokies have one player ranked in the top 66 of the ITA rankings with Caroline Daxhelet at No. 92. Junior Caroline Daxhelet is 2-3 to start the season. Francesca Fusinato is 6-2 on the season playing in the No. 1 and No. 2 singles spots. The Hokies had a ranked doubles pair with Caroline Daxhelet/Elena Cerezo-Codina, who are 4-1 on the year, but they fell out of this week’s rankings.
