NORFOLK, Va. – The Old Dominion women’s tennis team (2-1) will welcome Appalachian State (0-3) to the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Sunday, Feb. 5 at 10:00 a.m. All admission is free.
ODU started the spring season with a 6-1 win over Temple. Old Dominion was able to secure the doubles point with wins by Ingrid Vojcinakova/Adriana Rajkovic and Borislava Botusharova/Marijana Novakovic. Holly Hutchinson and Borislava Botusharova made quick work of their opponents and put ODU up 3-0 in the match. Additionally, Adriana Rajkovic, Ingrid Vojcinakova and Nataliia Vlasova helped ODU to the final 6-1 win.
ODU ventured to Berkley, Calif. to participate in the ITA Kickoff Weekend, where the Lady Monarchs played Missouri in the opening match, falling 4-1, as Borislova Botusharova handled business in the No. 1 singles match.
Old Dominion defeated Xavier 4-1 in the consolation match of the ITA Kickoff. ODU’s doubles pairs of Natalya Malenko/Nataliia Vlasova and Borislava Botusharova/Marijana Novakovic won the doubles point. In singles, Borislava Botusharova improved to 3-0, while Ingrid Vojcinakova and Natalya Malenko claimed victory to give the Lady Monarchs the win.

Meet Appalachian State: 0-3
Appalachian State has started the season off poorly, losing their first three losses. The first loss came at the hands of the NC State, who beat them 7-0. In App State’s second match, they were beaten by UNC Asheville 5-2. App State was able to earn the doubles point to start the match with a sweep in all three matches. App state had only one winner in singles by Melissa Machado at the No.4 match. Their match versus Campbell was more of the same, losing 5-2 again. They started off strong with two doubles wins and the point. Heidi Swope was the only App State player to win and singles, leaving them at 0-3. The will face off against Western Carolina and East Carolina before the match against ODU on February 5th.
