PARADISE ISLAND, Bahamas – The Old Dominion men’s basketball team (2-2) fell to LSU (4-1), 66-60, on Thursday night in the second game for both teams at the Battle 4 Atlantis. With the loss, the Monarchs will take on St. John's tomorrow at 9:30 p.m. ET on AXS TV.

Ahmad Caver paced the Monarchs with 11 points each, while Trey Porter (4-6 FG) added 10 points. Brandan Stith hauled down a game-high 12 rebounds to compliment his nine points. Jordan Baker also scored nine points, while Randy Haynes chipped in six points. Old Dominion held a 13-6 advantage in the assists department. Brandon Sampson (7-10 FG) scored a game-high 24 points for the Tigers. 

The teams were tied 6-6 at the first media timeout, before LSU mounted a 9-2 run to build a 15-8 lead midway through the half.

Old Dominion responded as Trey Porter scored six of his 10 points in the first half to help tie the game at 17-17 with five minutes remaining. Travis Fields then scored five points in the final two and a half minutes of the half to give ODU a 25-23 lead heading into the break.

In the first half, the Monarch defense forced nine LSU turnovers and held LSU to 38 percent shooting.

LSU regained the lead early in the second half with an 8-3 run in the first five minutes. In a back-and-forth second half, the Monarchs then used an 8-0 midway through the half to build its biggest lead of the game at 40-34 with with 10:36 remaining.

The Tigers rallied with a 17-6 run of their own to claim a 51-46 lead with under six to go, before ultimately claiming a 66-60 victory on Thanksgiving night in the Bahamas.

ODU is now 2-1 all-time against LSU. The Monarchs defeated LSU in the Paradise Jam in the Virgin Islands in 2014-15. 

Friday's game will also air live on the ODU Sports Radio Network, which includes ESPN Radio 94.1 FM (Norfolk), Sports FM 100.5 (Richmond), 94.1 FM WLVA and Fox Sports 580 (Lynchburg). Ted Alexander and Dave Twardzik will be on the call. Their pregame show will begin at 9:00 p.m. EST.
