NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion men’s soccer fell to South Carolina 3-2 on Saturday evening at the ODU Soccer Complex in Conference USA action. The Monarchs fall to 3-6-2, 0-3-1 (C-USA) while the Gamecocks improve to 9-4-1, 4-0-1 (C-USA).

Johan De Picker scored his first goal of the season to get the Monarchs on the board in the 52th minute. De Picker's goal came on the Sebastian Hauret assist and was just out of the South Carolina reach as it rolled past him.

ODU’s second point was scored by Niko Klosterhalfen off the headed pass from Cole Stringer with just three minutes remaining in regulation. The goal was Klosterhalfen's third goal of the season.

ODU led the evening in shots 20-9 and corner kicks 10-4, while South Carolina’s keeper, William Pyle, recorded six saves.

South Carolina had three different players score in the match. Bjorn Gudjonsson assisted by Danny Deakin (15:53) recorded the only point of the first half. Koty Millard with the assist from Luca Mayr (46:49) opened up the second half scoring and Deakin rounded out the South Carolina goals on an unassisted shot in the 55th minute.

The Monarchs hit the road as they travel to Marshall on Wednesday for a 7 p.m. C-USA match in Huntington, West Virginia.
