NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 48 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (17-4) downed No. 70 William & Mary (12-8) by a 4-0 score in front of over 300 hundred people at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. ODU has now won 14 of its last 15 matches.
The Tennis Monarchs jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point with victories from No. 50 Adam Moundir/Aziz Kijametovic on Court No. 1 and Jacob Nicolussi/Jose Nunez Navarro on Court No. 3.
Adam Moundir gave ODU a 2-0 lead after he proved to be too much for Christian Cargill in No. 1 singles (6-1, 6-0).
Javier Jover Maestre extended Old Dominion’s advantage to 3-0 with a win in No. 4 singles over Lars de Boer (6-2, 6-1).
It was Aziz Kijametovic who sealed the deal for the Tennis Monarchs, when he got the better Addison Appleby (6-4, 6-0) in No. 2 singles, lifting ODU to a 4-0 victory on Saturday afternoon.
No. 48 Old Dominion will be right back in action tomorrow at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center against No. 69 UNCW at 2:00 p.m.
