NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 48 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (18-4) cruised to a 6-1 victory over No. 69 UNCW (9-8) on Sunday at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. ODU has now won 16 of its last 17 matches, including wins against five ranked teams.
The Seahawks jumped out to an early 1-0 advantage after claiming the doubles point, but the Monarchs came storming back, winning all six singles matches.
Adam Moundir (6-1, 6-7 (7-5), 6-3), Aziz Kijmaetovic (7-6, 4-6, 6-3), Michael Weindl (6-1, 6-3), Javier Jover Maestre (7-6, 6-2), Zvonimir Podvinski (6-2, 3-6, 6-3) and Jacob Nicolussi (6-1, 6-2) all earned victories in singles with three coming in straight sets on Sunday.
Next up for the Tennis Monarchs will be the regular season finale and Senior Day, when Old Dominion hosts nationally ranked Middle Tennessee from Conference USA at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center on Sunday, April 17 at 10:00 a.m.
