PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The No. 38 Old Dominion men’s tennis team (14-3) extended its win-streak to 12 when they took down the Bears of Brown University (7-10) by a score of 5-2 on Saturday afternoon.
The Tennis Monarchs got off to a convincing start when they claimed the doubles point courtesy of No. 80 ranked doubles team in Jacob Nicolussi and Aziz Kijametovic on Court 1, and the duo of Michael Weindl and Javier Jover-Maestre claimed a win on Court 3.
Javier Jover Maestre, Adam Moundir and Michael Weindl all combined for three singles wins that clinched the match for ODU. Zvonimir Podvinski also added another win to his impressive senior campaign defeating his opponent 6-3, 7-5.
The Tennis Monarchs will have a quick turn around when they face No. 50 Harvard (10-8) on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. The Crimson are led by senior captain Nicky Hu and fellow senior Kelvin Lam who is undefeated at the No. 6 singles position. Harvard leads the all-time series 3-2.
