ODUSports.com takes a look back at Old Dominion's victory at UTEP.
- Old Dominion won for the second-straight week with a 31-21 victory over UTEP. The 10 point win was the biggest margin of victory in ODU's seven Conference USA wins in its two years in the league.
- The 21 points was also the least given up by ODU in a Conference USA game.
- True freshman running back Jeremy Cox set career bests with 15 carries for 84 yards and a touchdown and also caught four passes for 70 yards.
- David Washington completed 26-of-42 passes for 291 yards and two touchdowns.
- Zach Pascal tied his career-high with 11 receptions for 140 yards and a touchdown.
- Sophomore safety Justice Davila had an ODU high 10 tackles and a pass breakup to lead the defense while TJ Ricks had nine tackles, two pass breakups and a tackle for loss.
BIG MOMENTS
Several big plays were made throughout the game, but below is a few that stood out.
On the first drive of the game UTEP drove 71 yards in 10 plays and scored on a Mack Leftwich touchdown pass to Tyler Batson. The Miners botched the extra point attempt, which would come back to hunt them.
Early in the second quarter with UTEP leading 9-3, Ray Lawry galloped for a 42-yard touchdown run to put ODU on top 10-9.
UTEP scored on the following drive and went for two, which was incomplete, giving the Miners a 15-10 lead.
The Monarchs came back with a 75-yard drive in just 1:04 and scored on a 26-yard touchdown pass from David Washington to Zach Pascal to give ODU a 17-15 halftime lead.
With the ODU defense allowing just 28 third quarter yards, the Monarchs took a 24-15 lead with a Washington to Jonathan Duhart 11-yard touchdown pass.
Early in the fourth quarter, UTEP punter Alan Luna pinned ODU to their own three yard line. ODU got a pair of first down for some breathing room and a few stops both ways, Satchel Ziffer launched a 64-yard punt to flip the field.
Three plays later Fellonte Misher intercepted a Leftwich pass and Jeremy Cox ran for a 42-yard touchdown to put ODU up 31-15.
