NORFOLK, Va. – Old Dominion University running back Ray Lawry was named to the Doak Walker Watch List on Thursday. The award is given to the best running back in the country.
Lawry rushed 134 times for a single-season ODU record 947 yards and 16 touchdowns in 2014. A native of Woolwich, N.J., Lawry was named the Conference USA Freshman of the Year in 2014. He had five games of more than 100 yards rushing including a season-best 213 yards in the season finale victory at Florida Atlantic. He had four games with multiple rushing touchdowns, including three at NC State and single-game tying four at Western Kentucky.
Conference USA had a total of six running backs on the list. Joining Lawry are WKU's Leon Allen, Louisiana Tech's Kenneth Dixon, UTEP's Aaron Jones, Middle Tennessee's Shane Tucker and Marshall's Devon Johnson.
