NORFOLK, Va. – No. 73 nationally ranked Old Dominion women’s tennis extended its winning streak to seven straight as the Lady Monarchs defeated Norfolk State 5-1 Saturday afternoon at the Folkes-Stevens Tennis Center. The team improves to 13-4 on the season, including 8-1 when playing at home.
The teams elected to start with singles play and Adriana Rajkovic earned the first point for ODU with a 6-0, 6-2 No. 4 singles victory over Yvonne Kamegne.
Playing at the No. 3 spot, Marijana Novakovic took her match with Andrea Macchiavello 6-2, 6-1. The sophomore from Brcko, Bosnia & Herzegovina has won five consecutive matches and is now 15-2.
Nikol Hristova won her No. 1 singles match 6-3, 6-2 against Dajana Cvjetkovic. The junior from Sofia, Bulgaria has won four matches in a row and six of her last seven.
Ingrid Vojcinakova bested Liza Gordeeva 6-3, 6-2 in No. 2 singles play. The sophomore from Zilina, Slovakia improves to 13-4 and has won six of her last seven matches.
No. 5 singles went to Ivana Vukovic. The junior from Osijek, Croatia extended her winning streak to six with a 6-2, 7-6(3) decision over Mafalda Lhorca.
