COLLEGE PARK, Md. – The No. 63 ranked Old Dominion University women’s tennis team (6-4) had its three-match winning streak snapped by No. 48 ranked Maryland (7-4) on Friday by a score of 5-2. The win, extends the Terps winning streak to five.
Borislava Botusharova, who was just named the Conference USA Player of the Week for the second time in her young collegiate career, advanced her singles record to 9-1 on the season on Friday. The Pazardzhik, Bulgaria-native proved to be too much for Maryland’s Alexandra Stanova in a highly competitive back-and-forth match (6-4, 4-6, 6-4). This was only the second time in Botusharova’s nine wins this season that she has been taken to three-sets. Alexandra Stanova earned Third Team All-ACC honors a season ago for the Terps, after holding the No. 1 singles position for the majority of the season as a true freshman.
ODU sophomore, Marijana Novakovic, has now won four consecutive singles matches after taking down Maryland’s Welma Luus in three sets (6-4, 5-7, 6-1). Novakovic started the season on a five-match winning-streak and has won nine of her first 10 matches this season for Dom Manilla’s Lady Monarchs.
