NORFOLK, VA--The ODU Monarchs return home to host the Keydets of VMI Tuesday and Wednesday evenings at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. Game time for both is 6:00 p.m.

VMI is 4-6 and led by Ray Lopez who is hitting.382 BA with nine runs scored, followed by Jordan tarsovich with a .366 batting average, five RBI's and 10 runs scored. tarsovich and Matt Winn lead the team with two homers each.
VMI is scheduled to start righthander Ryan Bennett (0-0/3.68) on Tuesday. ODU is scheduled to counter with junior lefthander Jared Koenig (Aptos, CA.) on Tuesday and freshman Nate Matheson (Hampton, VA.) on Wednesday.
Through 14 games, senior Josh Eldridge (Lorton, VA.), this week's C-USA Player of the Week leads the team in hitting at .397 with two homers and seven RBI's. Firstbaseman Taylor Ostrich (Carroll, IA.) is hitting .365 with a team best 12 RBI, while junior Connor Myers (Middletown, MD.) is hitting .340 with 11 RBI.
ODU leads the series, 39-10. Last year, ODU won two games in Norfolk, 5-4 and 15-5, but lost at VMI, 4-3.

SPECIAL NOTES
Monarchs host annual Military Appreciation Game
For the third year in a row, Old Dominion Baseball will host “Military Appreciation Night” to honor all those past and present who have served our military. The Military Appreciation promotion will take place at ODU's game against Rice on Friday, March 20th at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. As part of this game, the Monarchs will open up a three-game weekend series against the nationally-ranked Rice Owls starting at 6:00pm.
During the game, the Monarchs will recognize all military personnel and veterans in attendance during pre-game ceremonies, the national anthem, and a special performance of “God Bless America” during the seventh-inning stretch. Also, members of ODU’s ROTC units will unveil an oversized American flag during the national anthem.
Tickets to the game are just $5 at the gate or purchase an ODU season voucher book for $50 and receive 32 admissions to any home baseball games. For Service Appreciation Night, the first 200 members of the military and their families will receive FREE tickets to the game by showing a military ID at the ticket gate and they will also be treated to a FREE cookout in Rally Alley.
