Mosley & Bacote Lead ODU Over North Texas, 72-62

 DENTON, TX—ODU freshman guard Ambrose Mosley and sophomore guard Aaron Bacote combined for 41 points to lead the Monarchs to a 72-62 Conference USA victory over North Texas at the Super Pit. ODU improves to 12-13 overall and 6-4 in C-USA. The Monarchs also have a 4-2 league road record.

Mosley scored a career high 21 points on 5-for-7 shooting from three-point range in just 13 minutes of playing time, while Bacote scored 20 points, including 4-for -5 shooting from beyond the arc. Mosley's previous high was 16 against UAB.

With 6:49 left in the game and North Texas leading, 50-48, Mosley would score the Monarchs next eight points on two treys and two free throws to put ODU up, 56-51 with 5:23 left.

In the final 2:40, Mosley would then score four free throws and assist on a Dimitri Batten trey while Aaron Bacote would knock down four free throws.  In the final 5:23 after a Maurice Aniefiok three-pointer for UNT, the Monarchs would outscore their opponent, 15-8 and the Mean Green did not make another field goal.

ODU finished the game shooting .444 (21-47) from the field, to UNT .320(16-50). ODU also shot .579 (11-19) from three-point range.

The Monarchs also outrebounded the Mean Green, 35-32 as freshman Denzell Taylor and sophomore Keenan Palmore each hauled down seven rebounds, followed by Richard Ross with  six. 

Palmore and Dimitri Batten both scored 11 points on the evening and Palmore dished out five assists. Taylor swatted  a career high five shots and Ross added three  blocks on the evening.

North Texas was led by Alzee Williams and Chris Jones with 13 points each, while forward Colin Voss led with a game high 10 rebounds.

The Monarchs travel to Tulsa for a 4 p.m. ET contest.
