RICHMOND, Va. – The Old Dominion University swimming and diving team won six more events over the weekend at Richmond, as the Monarchs fell to UNCW and Richmond.
Yesim Giresunlu got ODU’s first victory of the second day of the event with a win in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of 5:05.89. Nick Hooper gave ODU a win in the men’s 500-yard freestyle event with a time of 4:42.05.
Julia Video continued her strong start to the opening weekend with a win in the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:22.00. Jason Haigh earned ODU wins in both events as he won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:09.96.
Reed Matthews earned his second victory of the weekend with a win in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 1:53.16.
The Lady Monarchs finished the weekend off with a win in the 400-yard freestyle relay. Vido, Stephanie Norris, Juliana dos Santos and Savannah Bowers won the event in 3:33.75.
The Monarchs are back in action on Saturday, Oct. 26 when they travel to Towson at 1 p.m.
