RICHMOND, Va. – Old Dominion University swimming and diving started the tri-meet at Richmond on Friday winning a plethora of events. The meet will continue Saturday morning.
The ODU women’s 400-yard medley relay team of Colleen VandePoel, Julia Vido, McKenzie and Savannah Bowers got ODU off to a great start by winning the event with a time of 3:55.07.
Sidni Hoxha won a pair of events, the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 20.55 and the 200-yard free style with a time of 1:42.64.
The Monarchs took the top two finishes in the 1650-yard freestyle, as Reed Matthews won the event in 16:12.51 and Tyler Anderson place second in 16:21.09.
Savannah Bowers made it a clean first place sweep for ODU in the 200 freestyle, placing first with a time of 1:54.74.
Freshman Jacob Zeidler won his first event in the 100-yard breaststroke in 58.06 while Eddie Hubert and Jason Haigh finished right behind him in second and third.
Rachel Eckert capped the evening off with a win in the women’s 1-meter dive.
The event will continue tomorrow at 11 a.m.
