Sailing Takes Third at Hobart & William Smith Fall Intersectional

NORFOLK, Va. – The No. 11 Old Dominion University coed sailing team earned a top three finish at the Hobart and William Smith Fall Intersectional with 136 points over the weekend.

The Monarchs’ A-team tandem of senior skipper Dillon Paiva and junior crew Haley Garst finished in first place with 36 points. In the B-team race, senior skipper Zachary Runci along with junior crew Jill Fattibene and freshman crew Cooper Paiva took eighth place with 100 points.

In Annapolis, Md. at the Navy Fall Women’s Intersectional, the No.11 Lady Monarchs finished in ninth place with 425 points. The A-team of junior skipper Corina Radtke, senior crew Shannon Wilkins and junior crew member Alexa Cavalieri placed 13th with 160 points. In the B-team race, junior skipper Rachel Austin and freshman crew member Grace Mason came in ninth place with 141 points. In the Division-C race, sophomore skipper Andrea Luna took sixth place with 124 points.

Also in action in Annapolis, Md. this weekend was the MAISA Men’s Singlehanded Championships where junior skipper Evan Hoffman finished in 11th place with 194 points, while freshman skipper Joe David placed 17th with 233 points.

Old Dominion returns to action this weekend as they will be competing in the Captain Hurst Bowl in Hanover, N.H., the Navy Fall Intersectional in Annapolis, Md. The Lady Monarchs will be taking on Yale in New Haven, Conn. for an intersectional race.
