ODU Travels To Boston For CAA Series At Northeastern

NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs travel to Boston for a three-game CAA series againstthe Huskies of Northeastern beginning Friday afternoon at 3 p.m. Saturday's start time is 12 noon with Sunday's at 1 p.m. The Friedman Diamond is located in Brookline, MASS.

The Huskies (18-26/8-16) are led by Aaron Barbosa with a .344 batting average alongwith 12 stolen bases. John Puttress is hitting .337 with 25 RBI while Jon Leroux ishitting .333 with a team best eight homers and 38 RBI. Jason Vosler leads the team with 41 RBI along with six homers.

Northeastern is scheduled to start Andrew Leenhouts (5-3/3.44 ERA) on Friday, Nick Berger (3-4/5.57 ERA) on Saturday and Kevin Ferguson (5-3/3.44 ERA) on Sunday.

Northeastern is fifth in the CAA in hitting at .285. Leroux ranks third in the CAAin homers with eighth while Vosler is ninth in the league in RBI with 41. and Barbosa is fourth in triples with four.

Leenhouts ranks third in the CAA with 70 strikeouts and complete games with two.Both Ferguson and Leenhouts have one shutout each this seson.

Austin McGowan leads the Monarchs at .309, followed by senior Josh Wright at .305 and freshman Josh Eldridge at .304. Wright leads ODU in steals with 18 and runsscored with 47. He also has 14 doubles, six homers and three triples.

Senior Josh Tutwiler and Chris Baker lead in homers with seven each. Baker has 39RBI. Tutwiler is hitting .297 and Baker is at .276.

ODU is scheduled to start freshman Connor Overton (0-3/6.66 ERA) on Friday,senior Ben Tomchick (3-4/4.73 ERA) on Saturday and his freshman brother GregTomchick (1-2/4.68 ERA) on Sunday.

ODU reliever Brandon Smith leads the CAA in wins with an 8-1 record, while BenTomchick is fourth in the CAA in strikeouts with 69.

Tutwiler and Baker are sixth in the CAA in homers, tied with Danny Poma of Hofstra and Andrew Cain of UNCW. Josh Wright is third in runs scored and freshman JoshEldridge is fourth in triples with four, tied with NU's Aaron Barbosa.

Chris Baker ranks eighth in the CAA with 39 RBI and Josh Wright is eighth in total bases with 92 and 10th in slugging percentage at .520.
