NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Monarchs host nationally ranked North Carolina State Wednesdaynight at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex at 6 p.m. The contest will be carried liveon Star1310 WGH AM Radio with announcers Ted Alexender, ODU's Director of Broadcasting and Doug Ripley.
The Wolfpack (19-7)rank 13th by Collegiate Baseball, 17th by Baseball America,22nd by ESPN/USA TODAY Coaches and 26th by NCWBA. N.C. State's head coach Elliott Avent won his 800th collegiate game in a 7-6 win over Virginia Sunday.
The Wolfpack are led by infielder Chris Diaz who is hitting .368 with 26 RBI, follwed by Ryan Mathews at .333 with four homers and 16 RBI. NC State is hitting .292 as a team with 14 homeruns this season. They have a team ERA of 2.99 with 224 strikeouts in 234.2 innings which include three shutouts.
ODU leads the series, 17-16-1. The two teams last played in 2010 with NC State winning, 7-3 in Raleigh.
After Wednesday nights contest there will be seven more regular season games tobe broadcast on Star1310 radio. They are as follows:

Thus far Chris Baker ranks third in the CAA in homeruns with six, while JoeyBurney and Josh Wright are tied for sixth with four each. Josh Tutwiler is tiedfor seventh in the league with 16 walks, while Josh Wright ranks seventh in runsscored with 27. ODU is scheduled to throw senior C.J. Huyett (1-1/5.70).
The Monarchs travel to Towson this weekend for a three-game CAA series.
