WILMINGTON, NC--ODU's Josh Wright had three hits and scored three times with an RBI, but the CAA leading UNCW Seahawks defeated the Monarchs, 10-4 Friday night at Brooks Field. UNCW is 13-12 Overall and 8-2 in the CAA, while ODU drops to 10-16 overall and 2-5 in the CAA.

ODU got on the board first when Josh Wright led off the game with a single, stole second and came home from second on a UNCW error on Chris Baker's grounder.

Seahawks came right back in the bottom of the first as Hunter Ridge singled home Matt Campbell. UNCW then took the lead on Matt Campbell's two-out RBI single to bring home Jake Koenig in the second. In the fourth Mike Bass singled home Koenig with two outs followed by an RBI single from Campbell, for a 4-1 UNCW lead.

After McSwain had retired 11 of 12 Monarchs, ODU added two runs in the fifth on and RBI triple by Josh Wright to bring home Brandon Shelton and Josh Eldridge's sacrifice fly plated Wright to cut into the Seahawks leads at 4-3.

In the bottom of the sixth Mike Bass bunt single scored Koenig from third to make it 5-3. Cain then singled in two runs with two outs to make it 8-3.

In the ODU eighth inning senior Chris Baker singled home Josh Wright for the Monarchs final score.

Josh Wright finished the night with three hits in three at bats, followed by Chris Baker with two hits in four atbats.

Tyler McSwain won his fourth straight game for the Seahawks to improve to 4-2. ODU's Ben Tomchick took the loss, fanning seven in 5.2 innings of work.

Matt Campbell, Michael Bass and Jake Koenig each had three hits for UNCW, whileHunter Ridge knocked in three runs. UNCW had 16 hits on the night.

The two teams play again Saturday at Brooks Field beginning at 2 p.m.
