A Look Back: Week 1 - Campbell
Story of the game: Battle of FCS newcomers with Georgia State being in their second year as a program and ODU in their third. Colby Goodwyn finished the game with 190 rushing yards on 26 carries, which was the second most in school history. Goodwyn won the College Football Performance Awards National Running Back of the Week and CAA Offensive Player of the Week. Special teams came up big with Jarod Brown connecting on a career long 51-yard field goal, along with a 45-yarder. Paul Morant then blocked a punt in the second quarter and freshman Blair Roberts recovered it and took it into the end zone for his first career touchdown, giving the Monarchs a 20-10 lead. Each team concluded the half with another score, but the Monarchs defense stepped up in the second half, shutting out Georgia State with strong play from Craig Wilkins and Ronnie Cameron as well as key interceptions from Eriq Lewis and Carvin Powell. ODU moves to 2-0 on the season.

A Look Ahead: Week 2 - Hampton
Hampton returns two All-MEAC players in sophomore linebacker Delbert Tyler and junior punter Jordan Stovall. Tyler led the Pirates in tackles last season with 110, ranking third in the MEAC. Last season against the Monarchs, he recorded 17 tackles, which was one tackle off from his season high. Hampton ended the season at 7-4, and 5-3 in conference play. This will be the third match-up between these Hampton Roads rivals, with Old Dominion leading the series 2-0. Old Dominion took the first meeting at Hampton in 2010, winning by a score of 28-14.
