LEXINGTON, VA--Senior C.J. Huyett (Lawrenceville, PA), along with Dylan Bratton (Portsmouth, VA.)and Erick Baker (Marietta, PA) combined for a six hit shutout to l(ead the Monarchs of Old Dominion to a 2-0 victory over VMI Tuesday evening at Gray-Minor Stadium. ODU is 10-14 on the season.
ODU got on the board first with two runs in the fifth. Chris Baker (Chesapeake, VA.) singled home Josh Wright(Bridgewater, VA.) and Ben Verlander's (Maidens, VA.) groundout plated Josh Eldridge (Lorton,VA.)from third. Eldridge led ODU with two hits on the day.
Senior Erick Baker pitched the final two innings without allowing a runner and his first save of the season.
ODU hosts Norfolk State Wednesday night at 6 p.m. at the Bud Metheny Baseball Complex. The Contest will be carried on Star1310 WGH Radio with Ted Alexander and Doug Ripley.
