NORFOLK, Va.- Participating in their third match of the weekend, Old Dominion University men's tennis defeated the St. Francis University Red Flash 7-0. All of the Monarchs won in straight sets and Alfredo Rodriguez secured the team win with a victory over Lawson Barter.

"Great effort by the guys coming out strong after a tough loss yesterday," head coach Aljosa Piric commented on the victory. "We are going to have a good practice tomorrow, improve on a few details, and be ready to compete on Tuesday against a good Louisiana-Lafayette squad."

Alfredo Rodriguez and Carlos Lopez-Villa kept using their doubles streak going and beat Juan Pardo and Lawson Barter 8-2. Fahoum Fahoum and Can Cetinel used some overhead slams to topple Chris Jimenez and Sergio Carvajal. Back together at No. 1 doubles, Krzysztof Muzalewski and Albert Ochagavia came from behind over Andres Rosh and Nate Fleming controlling close court volleys and won a tough one 8-6.

Albert Ochagavia was at No. 1 singles for the first time in his career, and he served well down the stretch to defeat Andres Rosa 6-2, 6-0. Krzysztof Muzalewski played at No. 2 today, and he utilized some key touch and forehand shots to win over Nate Flemming 6-2, 6-2.

Wesley Barrett played today at No. 3 singles for the first time in his career. He was victorious over Sergio Carvajal 6-4, 6-2.

Rodriguez made the team score 5-0 when he ousted Lawson Barter 6-3, 6-3.

Fahoum and Cetinel translated what they did earlier in doubles to their singles matches, and in straight sets over Jimenez and Juan Pardo respectively.

The Monarchs will be back in action on Tuesday, February, 21, hosting Louisiana-Lafayette at the Folkes/Stevens Indoor Tennis Center.
