NORFOLK, VA-- With the 2012 ODU baseball season just around the corner fans who come to the stadium this season will notice improvements to the park.
Improvements include a new brick wall down both the right and left field lines, a clock over the stadium scoreboard and the big "WOW" a new outfield fence with padding featuring photos of Monarchs who have played or are still playing in the Major Leagues.
Images of the ODU Major League Monarchs include 2011 American League Cy Young and Player of the Year award winner Justin Verlander of the Detroit Tigers and 2011 National League Silver Slugger award winning pitcher Dan Hudsonof the Arizona Diamondbacks.
Images of former ODU Major Leaguers include: Tim Hummel ('00), Wayne Gomes ('93), Paul Mitchell ('71), John Montague ('66), Kevin Bearse ('87), Dennis Riddleberger ('66), Jeff Ware ('91) and Mark Wasinger(82).
The Monarchs open the 2012 season next Friday, Feb. 17 at 3 p.m. against Temple.
