NORFOLK, VA-- Four players scored in double figures to lead the ODU Monarchs to a77-69 victory over Long Island Monday night at the Ted Constant Convocation Center,before a crowd of 6624. This game is part of the Mohegan Sun Hall of Fame Tip-OffTournament which the Monarchs play in this coming weekend.

Red-shirt freshman Dimitri Batten (Hampton, Va.) led the way with 16 points on six-for 11 shooting from the floor. He also had three assists, two blocks and a steal.

Senior Marquel De Lancey (Woodbridge, VA.) added 13 points with three assists on five-of-seven shooting, while senior forward Chris Cooper (Dumfries, VA.) scored 10 with 11 rebounds, three blocked, four assists and two steals. Freshman Breon Key (Hampton, VA.) came off the bench to score 10 points and led the way with a gamehigh four steals.

Red-shirt sophomore Anton Larsen (Copenhagen, Denmark) equaled his career high ofnine points tonight, all in the first half. The 7-0 center-forward hit four-of-fiveshots from the field, including a three-pointer. He also hauled down four rebounds and blocked a shot. Freshman Jason Pimentel (Ocala, Fl.) hauled down a career high 10 rebounds to go along with his six points.

The Monarchs led by as many as 13 in the second half, 49-36 with 17:09 left after alayup from De Lancey.

LIU cut the ODU lead to two points, 56-54 with 10:40 left on a layup by Julian Boyd,but De lancey hit a trey to put the Monarchs back up five. Michael Culpo hit afree throw to make it 59-55, but Bazemore hits back-to-back treys to push the ODUlead back to 10 at 65-55 with 6:24 left and LIU would get no closer than seven therest of the game.

Bazemore finished the night with eight points, a team high five assists along withthree blocked shots and two steals.

LIU had four players in double-figures led by Michael Culpo with 15. C.J. Garnerscored 13 and Jamal Olasewere and Julian Boyd chipped in 12 each. Boyd led the Blackbirds with seven rebounds, while Jason Brickman dished out nine assists.

ODU finished the night shooting .484 (30-62) from the floor and outrebounding LIU,39-35. The Blackbirds shot .424 (25-59) from the field and were held to just sixtreys.

The Monarchs return home to host Howard on Wednesday night at 7 p.m.
