ELON, N.C. - Krszysztof Muzalewski and Albert Ochagavia knocked off August Idwal and Ondrej Kralik 9-8 (5) in the finals to win the doubles B1 championship over the weekend at the Elon Invitational.

The pair started the weekend off with an 8-2 triumph over a team from East Carolina before cruising to an 8-3 win over Elon before the thrilling finals victory.

"The weekend was long, a lot of matches and our legs were feeling it. The only thing we wanted was to finish strong. It was the first time that we were playing together and we wanted it to work out because both of us wanted to play together," Ochagavia said. "We were under pressure the last game with break down, I felt that kris had my back that if I would miss, he would help me on the other point and other way around. After this tough game we kept with the energy that we had and we ended up winning."

Muzalewski earned a trip to the semifinals in the A1 singles bracket. He defeated Duke's Cale Hammond 7-5, 2-6, 6-2 in his first match before dropping Campbell's Fernando Guillen 7-5, 7-6 in the second round. He lost a tough three-set match, 7-6, 1-6, 6-4 to Elon's Stefan Fortmann.

In the A2 singles draw, Ochagavia lost his first match but came back to defeat Neies Cleeren of East Carolina 6-1, 6-2.

At B1 singles, Fahoum Fahoum beat Randy Phillips of UNC Greensboro 7-5, 6-1.

Alfredo Rodriguez started off with a hard-fought 7-5, 4-6, 6-2 victory over Longwood's Edward Becker.

ODU is back in action next weekend when they travel to the Virginia Fall Classic.
