No. 1 ODU Tops Towson, 4-0, For Third Consecutive Shutout

TOWSON, Md. - The Old Dominion field hockey team shutout its third consecutive opponent Friday evening as the Lady Monarchs remained unbeaten with a 4-0 win at Towson.

No. 1 Old Dominion (13-0, 4-0 CAA) has now held opponents scoreless for over 228 minutes through the last four games. The Lady Monarchs dominated the contest, allowing a season-low two shots.

Senior Stephanie Kratzer tallied a goal and dished out a career-high three assists in the victory. Other Lady Monarch goal scorers were Kati Nearhouse, Christy Longacre and Kathryn Kirk.

ODU goalkeeper Devon Seifert registered saves on both of Towson's shots. The Tigers fall to 6-6 on the year with the loss.

The Old Dominion offense got off 21 shots during the game and held a 20-0 advantage in penalty corner attempts.

The Lady Monarchs next face Drexel on Sunday at 12 noon. The two squads faced off last season for the CAA Championship with ODU prevailing in double overtime.
