NORFOLK, Va. - William and Mary scored two goals in each half to defeat Old Dominion University women's soccer Friday night at the ODU Soccer Stadium.
ODU (6-11-2, 3-7-1) had a solid opportunity in the 12th minute when Victoria Johnson's shot from 20 yards out was knocked just over the cross bar by the Tribe's Katherine Youngt.
W&M (15-2-2) struck in the 23rd minute when Cortlyn Bristol fired a shot from the left side for the 1-0 Tribe lead.
William and Mary made the score 2-0 in the 39th minute on a Dani Rutter unassisted tally.
Just two minutes after halftime W&M made it 3-0 on another goal from Rutter, who beat ODU keeper Brianna Alvarado to the right for her second goal of the night.
ODU just missed a chance when a shot from Jessie Klamut from the left side went off the cross bar.
The Tribe finished the scoring in the 76th minute on a goal from Anna Madden. Emory Camper fired a shot that went off the cross bar but Madden was there for the rebound goal.
ODU outshot the Tribe 13-11 and held a 6-0 lead in corner kicks. Johnson led ODU with four shots while Erin Liberatore had three for W&M.
ODU honored its six seniors, Rachael Carroll, Kaylee Scholl, Jocelyn Weidner, Tori Diersen, Lisa Bernardini and Victoria Johnson before the match.
