NORFOLK, VA-- The ODU Baseball Monarchs hit the road to Hempstead, NY. to take on Hofstra in the final CAA series of the year. ODU is currently a half game back of James Madison for first. The Dukes won their opener at Northeastern, 5-0 today.

Hofstra is 13-31 overall(10-17) in the CAA. Danny Poma leads the Pride with a .404 batting average and 27 RBI. Jared Hammer is second at .347 and Kenny Jackson at .329. Joe Perez leads the Pride with eight homers.

On the mound, David D'Errico has five wins, including a shut victory over the Miami Hurricans. He has only walked 19 batters in 74.2 innings of work. He will pitchin Friday's opener against ODU's Kyle Hald. The Monarchs lead the series, 15-7.

Josh Wright leads ODU with a .380 average along with 18 steals, 47 runs scored and 12 homers. Wright has 14 doubles and 42 runs batted in. Nathan Hartman is at .296 with 32 RBI and five homers, followed by Chris Baker with a .283 batting average,seven homers and a team best 52 RBI. Freshman Joey Burney also has seven homers with31 RBI.

Wright is seventh in the CAA in on base percentage at .465 and third in the slugging percentage at .721. Chris Baker is fourth in the CAA in RBI's and sixthin doubles.

On the mound, Freshman Dean Ali has a 2.26 ERA. Senior reliever Adam Wisniewskileads the CAA with an ODU single season best 14 saves.

Kyle Hald is 8-2 with a 3.59 ERA and 96 strikeouts in 82.2 innings of work. He is tied for the CAA lead in wins with DJ Brown of James Madison and Seaon Tierney of JMU. Hald is 10th in the CAA in ERA and second to Logan Billbrough (W&M) in strikeouts.

Phil McCarthy (7-4) and Ben Tomchick (7-4) are tied for fifth in the CAA in victories with seven.

Because of graduation at Hofstra, the two teams will play a doubleheader beginning at 11 am.

The CAA tournament begins May 26th in Wilmington, NC.
